I love this first reflection on the journey to beginning and the necessity of creating.

Notes do work after all! I don’t tend to read the Notes but SubStack opens at that page and usually I just click through to my inbox, but that fox was so beautiful, and the comment attached was so daft! that I had to come and check you out. You’re just as inspiring as all the other artists I follow on here. I love relaxed art. I’m sketch and wash myself, so this little stuffie is right down my alley. A pleasure to ‘meet’ you.

Like Beth, I'm also here because of your Note. Such an amazingly beautiful fox! And, such a tone-deaf comment.

Honestly, I think Beth was being kind calling the commentator "daft." Over the years, I've lost count of the number of times some traditionalist creative has proceeded to espouse their nonsensical version of the rules to the room**. It always makes me feel better when the room's occupants, take one look at the dude -- it's usually a dude -- and basically let him know that we've all moved on from his archaic perspective.

Love your work! Looking forward to more and reading about your process adventures!

** I'm defining "room" broadly here. It's basically whatever platform, arena, or even a physical building such proclamations are uttered in/on.

Yay, I'm so glad you're here! I really need to try more line and wash... I love the look of it but haven't gotten in the practice yet. The line part makes me a bit nervous because it's so permanent. :D

I’m going to (metaphorically) take pigwee with me on my wondering wanderings today, there is a spark of something in my mind that I want to explore, something to do with beginnings, journeys, destinations and endings. I shall leave out ruminating about endings, that’s for another day. Today you have sparked thoughts about beginnings and journeys. Your painting is lovely, perfectly imperfect, the beginning of a children’s story perhaps, and as all adults know, children’s stories are the very best! I found you via the fox, long live art on Substack :)

Oh, how amazing... yes, Pigwee would be happy to go along with you! I love beginnings so much. They are fresh and exciting, of course, but they also require a particular kind of courage and belief.

I love your painting of Pigwee! It’s wonderful, and I’m glad it opened something up for you and has led to an embrace of the process itself.
